Reporting HIB

If you have concerns about harassment, intimidation, or bullying, please report them using the HIB Incident Report Form

Resources

Spotswood School District is committed to providing a safe and respectful learning environment for all students. In compliance with New Jersey's Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act, the district has established policies, procedures, and programs to prevent and address harassment, intimidation, and bullying.

Our Approach to Prevention and Response

The district works systematically to promote a positive school climate and address HIB incidents through the following efforts:

Training and Leadership

  • Ongoing and comprehensive HIB training for all staff members

  • School Safety Teams at each building led by an Anti-Bullying Specialist

  • Clear procedures for reporting HIB incidents, including an online reporting form available on each school's website

Investigation and Response

  • All HIB investigations are conducted in compliance with Board of Education policy
  • Parents of alleged victims and alleged offenders are notified when investigations begin
  • Investigations are completed within 10 school days of the written incident report
  • Results of every investigation are reported to the superintendent within two school days of completion

Prevention Programs

The district implements prevention efforts across all schools, including:

  • Observance of the Week of Respect and School Violence Awareness Week

  • Social-emotional learning (SEL) and character education lessons
  • Instruction in conflict resolution and related topics
  • Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
  • Student organizations that promote inclusion and leadership, including Heroes and Cool Kids, Lead for Diversity, Peer to Peer Connections, Community Cares Club, Charger Pride Alliance, and the Human Relations Committee
